Finally, on December 20, 2018, the United Nations General Assembly established World Food Safety Day through resolution 73/250. The inaugural World Food Safety Day was observed on June 7, 2019, marking a significant milestone in global efforts to address food safety challenges. In addition, the World Health Assembly passed resolution WHA73.5 on August 3, 2020, recognizing and highlighting the importance of World Food Safety Day in creating awareness and preventing foodborne illnesses worldwide.
